A class of 61 students received high school diplomas during graduation exercises at Digby Regional High School on Wednesday.

Achievement awards, certificates and honour sashes, bursaries and scholarships were also awarded with honours graduate and class valedictorian Jessica Sabean leading the class as she received the Governor-General’s medal, Queen Elizabeth II medal, the DRHS Memorial Cup and the DRHS Athletic Award.

Sabean was awarded $11,350 in entrance and renewable scholarships from Acadia University, along with the $1,500 William Francis Ganong Memorial Scholarship.

Mallory Lewis led her class in scholarships and bursaries as she was the recipient of the second $1,500 William Francis Ganong Memorial Scholarship along with a total of $20,350 in kind from Acadia University.

Morgan Geauvreau was awarded the Mayor’s Cup and received a total of $10,740 in local and Acadia University scholarships and bursaries.

Karley Deveau shared the Legion Memorial Trophy with Jonathan Deveau and received a total of $8,350 in local and university scholarships and bursaries for her studies in nursing at Dalhousie University.

Samantha Adam, Koral Amero, James Hazelton, Kathryn McNeil and Matthew Turnbull received university scholarships for further studies in the fall.

Matthew Turnbull won the Science and Mathematics Award; Tyler Harris received the English Award, Travis Sullivan won the Staff Award; and Morgan Geauvreau was awarded the Social Studies Award.

The Technology Award went to David VanTassell, and Options & Opportunities Award was awarded to Faith Wagner, while the French Immersion Award went to Kathryn McNeil.

Jonathan Deveau received the DRHS Athletic Award.

    Congrats to all graduates...no pics of the DALA grad last Tuesday, of the adult learners...would`ve been nice to see too.
