This marks the first ParOlympic events at the hospital and coincides with the Paralympics taking place in Vancouver.
Each flame carried represented different things such as, dignity, team work, happiness, motivation and more. Alex Hannah was the first person to carry a flame representing determination.
"We're participating so that we can live as independently as possible in our community," Hannah said.
Patients and staff will keep track of Canada's standings at the official games along with their own as they kicked off events Monday morning.
Monday saw patients participate in bowling, basketball and beads while on Tuesday they got creative with play dough, painting and food decorating.
Wednesday featured a St. Patrick's Day social and cognitive games, said recreational therapist Charlotte Frankland.

Thursday (today) is ADL day, where participants are challenged to see who can relay the fastest in daily things such as pulling up a pair of pants or buttoning shirts, making beds, folding towels and so on, while Friday is physical activity day with a relay race between patients and staff with wheelchairs and walkers.
