I taught in Weymouth for 30 years and now spend time as a woodsman, restoring furniture, playing hockey and curling. I operate a sausage cart at local events.
I served 20 years with the Digby Area Recreation Commission; was treasurer for Gilberts Cove Historical Society; taught Sunday School and was superintendent for 10 years; coached high school sports for 25 years.
We need to encourage, promote and support new business; it is a need in our municipality.
We need to continue recreation at present and existing levels and to extend programs to outlying areas.
We need to develop programs to benefit the elderly and improve their quality of life by providing companionship and activities where they can meet people and socialize. I would work with the public protection safety commission and recreation and culture to achieve this.
Turnout at municipal elections is very low. Hopefully electronic voting will make it easier for people to vote.
As a member of council I would consider the well-being and interests of the people in this community. I would encourage participation in the process of governing. I would be accountable to the people who elect me.
I am informed and I research issues. I have always had a strong desire to do well and serve the well-being of our community. I am running for municipal council because I love this place. I am a small business owner, a regular guy, who wants to serve this municipality.
