When the boat started drawing in water from the stern, the crew headed for the Racquette where the vessel settled on a sand bottom.
“It was better than sinking,” said one crewmember.
Part of the load of traps was lifted off. The remainder will be ferried out when the tide returns and the remaining traps will be lifted off by the boat’s trap hauler on a later trip.

The lobster boat Passage Provider ran into trouble earlier today as it headed to the fishing grounds with a load of 100 traps.
