A truckload of trusses arrived last week and a crane was on site to start lifting the first of nearly 100 trusses in place Monday morning.
Work on the library is pretty much on schedule, says construction foreman Art Noah of Delmar Construction in Yarmouth.
“We’ve lost a day or two, but weather hasn’t really affected construction progress,” he said. “It was windy last week and we couldn’t raise the trusses so we continued to work on the walls.”
The building should be enclosed by mid-January and work will continue until completion in the spring.
“The roof is the biggest challenge and once we are inside it should be clear sailing,” he said.
Jeanne Nesbit, coordinator of nextdoor neighbour Sissiboo Landing, said she has been monitoring the construction site and updating the progress on the village’s website.
It is nice to see the library underway,” Nesbit said. “This is very good for Weymouth.”
