An archeological assessment did not find anything of historical or aboriginal importance at the Tideview construction site last Wednesday.
When crown land is used or crossed in Nova Scotia a study takes place before the land is disturbed to make sure there is not anything of historical importance, such as Indian burial grounds, old campsites or whatnot.
The assessment of a 66 x 100 foot parcel of land where Tideview crosses the old railway corridor did not find anything of historical importance, said Town of Digby Mayor Ben Cleveland. Construction will go ahead as usual.
It cost about $2,400 to bring in someone to conduct the study, said Cleveland.
The waste water project also crosses crown land from the railway corridor in Digby to Smith’s Cove and that assessment will take place in the spring.
