A new infrastructure agreement between provincial and federal governments may be good news for those looking for construction of the 101-Series highway between Digby and Weymouth.

Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal Minister Murray Scott said last week during question period that the province plans some announcements in the near future, particularly in the riding of Digby-Annapolis.

Scott was responding to questions by area MLA Harold Theriault who said the existing highway is a safety concern for a lot of people. “Now that government has renamed the department to include infrastructure renewal, I think it’s about time the people between Digby and Weymouth get their highway modernized,” Theriault said.
