Strategy aims to make it easier for visitors to discover area’s attractions

The Digby County Courier is partnering with the Digby Area Tourism Association and the Municipality of Clare to produce this year’s Digby County Visitors Guide.
The goal of the Digby Area Tourism Association is to continue to transform Digby into a destination for visitors, as well as fostering the growing partnership between Digby and Clare tourism industries. The partnership with the Digby Courier to create a refocused Digby Visitors Guide and improved maps represents a key vehicle of the marketing strategy.
By encouraging all local accommodations to carry the guide in every room, this strategy will make it easier for visitors to find all of the things to do and places to eat and shop in Digby, and hopefully stay another night. Another key element will be the addition of the Clare Acadian Shore area as a recommended day trip, adding to the existing trips featuring Digby Neck, Weymouth, Bear River and Annapolis Royal.
Over the past few months, representatives from the Clare and Digby tourism industry have participated in grassroots networking meetings and are working more closely together on marketing and product development.
New packages are being developed with Clare operators, as well as a new experiential bus tour will be introduced this season by the Clare tourism department on Mondays, a partnership with Le Transport de Clare where visitors will be picked up in Digby, and taken on a three- to five-hour cultural immersion exposing visitors to the rich Acadian culture and history in Clare.
