An overflow from Digby’s wastewater treatment plant has again closed a portion of the Annapolis Basin to shellfish harvesting.

Heavy rain Saturday is blamed for the overflow.

The Department of Fisheries and Oceans says increased levels of bacteriological contamination mean fish harvesters should not harvest and processors should not purchase or process any bivalve molluscs, including oysters, clams (soft shell clams, razor clams, surf clams) mussels, and quahogs from this area until further notice.

The prohibition order does not include scallops.
